Terra Firma GIS is a sole proprietorship created by James Coyle for the purpose of providing GIS services to local governments and performing independent research in the area of spatial analysis. My work is significantly supported by the graphic design skills of my wife, Cynthia, who has 15 years experience in that field.

James Coyle has ten years of experience in the field of GIS in areas of public works, research, crime analysis, land records management, and planning.

Terra Firma GIS is primarily focused on high-accuracy parcel conversion using coordinate geometry (COGO). Terra Firma GIS uses a unique approach that supports conversion of recorded documents without reference to control. This approach permits the entire coverage to be scaled and rotated 'on the fly' with pre-rotation COGO attributes maintained and feature-linked line and polygon annotation created through this process. In addition, a closure evaluation file is created during this process that identifies recorded document and technician errors.
